Connel Ferry Bridge Falls of Lora
The Falls of Lora at Connel Ferry Bridge is a natural phenomenon with the narrow 200 yard bottleneck entrance to Loch Etive meeting the sea in a narrow channel with a sudden change of depth. A “standing wave” occurs when the tide is running at its fastest creating strong currents as the tide rises and falls twice a day in each direction.
The fall is some four to five feet when the flood of water rages through and creates unique sport as the loch ‘empties’ providing a challenge for canoeists and divers who regularly visit for the thrill and spectacle.
